Dear Fellow Member,
I hope you are all enjoying this Summer newsletter. Nutmeg is always a busy club in the Spring and Summer. We start the year with our Health Clinic, so efficiently run by Sam Bell and her mother Kathy O'Rourke, ably assisted by Cheryl Rutz. As usual the clinic ran as clockwork, and there were dog owners from breeds other than PWDs who said: "we'll come here every year, it's so quick and organized - we are IN and OUT"!... Congrats to our workers at the clinic!
The agility trial is run by a committee headed by Laura Taft-Paulsen who does a superb job, and congratulations to our HIGH IN TRIAL owner Brian McGunigle and Gracie, and a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who helped run the show.
Our Specialty was a great event with top winning dogs and whilst the weather was less than we wanted, the new Nutmeg 30th Anniversary micro-fleece tops were a great success! We will have these and all our other goodies, plus the wonderful umbrellas with the logo on them at our Water Trials in August (the 20th and 21st in Monroe CT) and September (the 10th and 11 in Farmington CT), and you can always email me or call me to place an order or to find out more about them. Please also note the wonderful DER AGITATOR print that's available to benefit the Deyanne Miller Scholarship Fund. Deyanne founded the Nutmeg Club 30 years ago and I know is very very proud that we are still working and enjoying the club. She was determined that we run the first AKC Match as part of the AKC's Specialty Club requirements to have an independent Specialty, and of course, Nutmeg ran the first Water Trial for PWDCA and also Nutmeg was the first club to be AKC approved as a local specialty Club.
Please don't forget that the PWDCA's National Specialty will be in Callaway Gardens, Georgia this September. Nutmeg PWD Club donates to the Trophy Fund, to the Raffles and puts an advertisement in the show catalog. If you would like to support all those PWDs showing up for the event, please visit http://www.pwdcaspecialty.org/. I will be driving down there and I know that Jane Freeman, Terri Pecora, Marie Forgach, Patti Cox and several other Nutmeggers will be attending. Jane Harding
