National Park priorities - an opportunity to discuss future options
A limited number of places are available to representatives of the tourism sector to attend a discussion with the Chief Executive and senior Member of the Exmoor National Park Authority on the 28 September at Exmoor House. The workshop will provide tourism providers an opportunity to provide input into the setting of future priorities forthe National Park Authority against a backdrop of anticipated significant reductions in core funding from central government, in line with other parts of the public sector. If you would like to attend please contact Dan James, Sustainable Economy Officer, for further details.

There is a lot of change on the horizon and last week it was announced that South West Tourism will cease to exist from April 2011 following the abolition of the South West Regional Development Agency. Future regional development work will be conducted by newly formed Local Enterprise Partnerships focusing on smaller geographical areas and the National Park Authority is currently engaged in discussions to secure the best possible fit for the area.

MoorRover logoLast year AtWest took on the MoorRover demand responsive leisure transport service with support from the Exmoor National Park Sustainable Development Fund and increased passengers from 3 to over 100. This year they have already carried over 500 passengers and still have several more bookings throughout September.

We are pleased to announce that the service will be extended to the 10th October and will therefore be available for some of the popular autumn events including the Exmoor Food Festival, North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival and the Dartmoor and Exmoor Low Carbon Festival. For full details about booking a journey using the MoorRover please visit the new ExploreMoor website or contact AtWest on 01643 709701.
New National Park Pocket Guide dispensers
CareMoor boxNew dispensers locally made from Exmoor timber are now available to any business wishing to provide copies of the new National Park Pocket Guide in return to promoting CareMoor for Exmoor, the official conservation and access fund for the National Park. The new guide was launched in July and has proved to be very popular already. The dispensers, available in single or double size, include a secure collection box for CareMoor for Exmoor donations and provide one of several ways to help visitors invest in the area. If you wish to apply for a new collection box please email CareMoor@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk.
Your Future Exmoor

Over 1000 local residents and businesses attended workshops earlier this year to help determine new planning policies for the Exmoor National Park. Copies of the resulting reports for each area can now be viewed on line here.

As a next step a number of workshops will be held focusing on specific themes such as economy & employment and transport. If you would like to register your interest to attend one of these events please complete and submit the group discussion form by the 1 October.
Exmoor Visitor Survey
Over the summer the Exmoor National Park Authority have been conducting a new visitor survey on behalf of the Exmoor Tourism Partnership to provide up to date visitor information following the last survey conducted in 2005.

It is intended to continue surveying throughout September with some further work conducted during the autumn and winter. Whilst the majority of surveys are being conducted face to face to ensure an even spread of respondents we can supply further copies of the self completion questionnaires to any businesses that would like to support this work.
