Look at Them Now!

Meet Jacob...

"As a child, I was blessed with the opportunity to attend camp for six years. Now that I am an adult, I realize camp helped me grow into the man I am today. Camp was a place of refuge for me. People at camp accepted me for who I was and encouraged me to be myself! Without camp, I would have never learned how to swim... or build rockets...or even sing in front of a crowd. If I could turn back the hands of time, I'd do it all over again!"

Meet Ashley...

"Thirteen years ago I spent my first summer at camp. I was 9 years old and all I knew was from my own culture, where everyone looked like and talked like I did. At camp, I was different, but we became a family, and all of our differences made our family beautiful. Camp gave me the gifts of independence, self-esteem, acceptance, leadership, and best of all, friendship. These gifts make up who I am today. I wish more kids could get the extraordinary opportunity to celebrate the beauty of being different."

What Their Camp Directors Say...

Since his first days at Timberlane, Jacob was known and adored by everyone. He came into our community intent on spreading his good humor and friendship, and he succeeded right from the start. Jacob involved himself in all aspects of camp, excelled in most, and more than anything, was a friend to all. And he loved to sing, whether in the Lodge after meals, or at our campfires. That was always a welcome source of joy for everyone. We are so fortunate to have Jacob as part of our camp family.

Camp for All Kids afforded Ashley the opportunity to attend Kamaji as a camper from age 9-15. Wanting to give back to Kamaji and to pass onto its campers the best possible camp experience, Ashley became a CIT and later, a cabin counselor/archery instructor. Ashley was not only a terrific camper; she blossomed into a confident, independent, emulated, caring and respected counselor, mentor, role model...one of the finest staff members in our 30+ tenure at Kamaji! How fortunate and blessed we were to have Ashley be a part of Kamaji and our lives and the lives of the campers for so many summers!
