Taste of the Arts: The Producers Honoring our contributors
Saturday, August 13th 7:00 pm at The Terminal Station Cecil R. Coke, Jr., President of Riverside Cemetery is our honoree at Taste of the Arts 2011. During Cecil's 37-year tenure at the helm, he has modernized the ship from an antiquated vessel with handwritten records and swing blade grass cutters to a sleek, modern ultra- voyager with state of the art electronic data storage and a repository and purveyor of arts, history and 123 acres of green space along the Ocmulgee. You are invited to make a donation in his honor by clicking here. Presented by Macon Arts Alliance and sponsored by Capital City Bank, this year's Taste of the Arts promises a festive time for all and an opportunity to support over 50 local arts and culture organizations! Celebrity chefs compete with their best sweet and savory creations, which attendees enjoy sampling along with drinks, music and a silent auction. Last year, celebrity chef Tom Moody, HRCC Board Chairman, served up delectable chocolate candy tombstones. This year, our celebrity chefs are spirits Solomon Humphreys, a 19th century free person of color (channeled by Harold Goodridge, business editor for The Telegraph) & 19th century travel writer Anne Royalls (channeled by Liz Fabian, online journalist for The Telegraph & broadcast journalist for News Talk Central, Fox 24). Admission is $40. Purchase tickets now to support the Macon Arts Alliance and its work in 12 Middle Georgia Counties and to have a cool time on a hot summer night! For more info, call 478-743-6940. |

Other Ways to Get Involved Young Conservators & Internships
The Young Conservators is a dynamic group of adult supporters ages 25 - 35. At their last meeting, Jon Lewis stepped up to assume leadership of the YCs, and three YCs offered to be put in nomination to serve on the HRCC Board of Directors. The YCs are currently working with Suzanne Doonan on Spirits in October, Other projects include tours, books, and 5k runs. Click here to read the minutes from the last meeting. The Conservancy also has internship opportunities available. This summer, John Kabue, a recent graduate of Mercer University, has been been working with the HRCC as an intern. He has been spending a few hours each day helping the HRCC with computer work (Excel, Word, etc.), mailings, and the membership drive. Click here to read the Internship Job Descriptions. If you are interested in becoming involved in either of these capacities, please email or call 478-742-5328. |
