Chinese consumers strongly embrace online video, and in a recent CNNIC report on Internet usage online video surpassed online games as an Internet activity. An innovative 150-language online video company called Viki has just teamed up with RenRen.com to bring more online video options to mainland China. We foresee the merging of digital entertainment in the near future, including online video, online gaming and social networking services. Viki's deal with RenRen is not exclusive.  

With the hundreds of mobile game developers based in China now, and their appetite to reach international markets with their domestically developed games in hope of instant success on the App Store or Android Market, this Chinese mobile development marketplace is reminiscent of the boom in Chinese outsourced game development studios of a few years ago. In that "era" there were hundreds of game outsourcing studios, but only a few dozen of any merit who were able to generate good business. After that era there was consolidation and a shift toward more development for domestic users rather than international games. Many Chinese mobile game developers are looking overseas for the golden ring, but the truly talented will prevail and eventually focus on games for their home market first. The mobile games market revenue in China will expand by 6x its 2011 level in the next 5 years, which means there is room for lots of competition, but the demand for quality games will mean that only the truly talented studios will succeed.  

Indonesian online game operator KREON launched (Shanda/Nexon's) Dragon Nest and quickly is attaining users there. KREON ascended from nowhere with the license of Point Blank in 2010 and thanks to the early stage of the Indonesian online games market instantly became a top 3 online game operator there. Dragon Nest has been a hit in China and Korea, and is also a hit in other countries in Asia already. We foresee that this game will do well for KREON in Indonesia too.
