As mentioned in the Marbridge Daily, China's Ministry of Industry and Info Tech (MIIT) announced that 25.9% of the 450 million (for a total of 118 million) mobile "terminals" - presumably mobile phones and tablets - were smart terminals, up from 5% in 2006. In addition, the 2011 shipment figure is up 16.8% from 2010. In Q4 2011 smart terminals accounted for 36.17% of the total number of mobile terminals shipped nationwide. Devices running the Android, iOS, and Symbian operating systems accounted for 73.99%, 10.67%, and 12.53% of smart terminals, respectively.

Assuming the data cited by MCVUK is accurate, the Indian online games market in 2011 was smaller than the online games markets in Thailand and Vietnam, reaching nearly $70 million in sales. The article, as posted in VG Chartz, says that of the $359 million generated by the total games industry, 55% or $197 million was attributed to console gaming, $8 million for PC gaming, and $86 million for mobile gaming. This implies that the remaining $68 million came from online games. Compared to the more than $6.8 billion generated in China in 2011 India has vast growth potential, but China and Southeast Asia are outpacing India in growth and revenue of online games and will produce better returns sooner than India will.
