The Korean government is considering whether to add another regulation to limit the hours a minor can play online games. Similar measures are in place in China and in Vietnam. This new policy, if adopted, will be put in place by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, whereas the two existing policies were put in place by two other ministries. Just like in China, lots of ministries have carved out a piece of the control for the lucrative and influential online games sector. Social games could serve to provide an interlude in hard-core gaming sessions, so that gamers can log off of one game, rest in another, and then log back on to the hard-core game they were playing initially. But in Korea, a gamer would be unable to play more than 3 hours in any given day, with a max of 2 hours consecutively.

In November Niko announced that for the second year in a row Vietnam had the largest online games market revenue in Southeast Asia, and was poised for continued growth despite a strict regulatory climate that is currently blocking licenses for new MMORPGs and MMOFPS games. A recent Business Week article supports our assertion that online gaming is hot in Vietnam and adds that many other Vietnamese consumer Internet businesses are booming, including "Groupon clones." While the Vietnamese people in general are not wealthy, the majority of them are netizens and find a way to spend money online.

Research firm iResearch put out a list of the Top 10 Chinese B2C sites by growth in the number of ecommerce transactions in 2011. Among them, sites we recognize for having exposure in the games space are Taobao.com and Amazon.cn (will Amazon launch digital games distribution?) The number one site was womai.com, purveyor of packaged food products.
