Chinese Smartphone Gaming Research

Niko Partners, the leader in Asian video game market intelligence, announces the completion of our first baseline analysis on Chinese smartphone owners with regard to their gaming behavior and the importance of games in their smartphone purchase decision. In September we surveyed 500 Chinese smartphone owners and asked them about their preferences and behavior, particularly with regard to playing games on their mobile device and impact of gaming on the purchase decision. The results were published October 9th in the "Mobile Games" chapter of our 2011 China's Games Industry Six-Month Update Report. With this survey and our past analysis of the mobile games segment we are able to better serve our clients who are part of the global mobile games industry as handset makers, games developers, or service providers.

Since 2010 we have been expanding our coverage of the Chinese games market to include mobile devices and mobile gaming in order to keep ahead of the curve in analysis of strategic trends. Mobile gaming is now part of our primary research and analysis, which since 2003 has included tracking of the Chinese PC online, offline, console and handheld game segments. Our 2011 Six-Month Update Report also continues Niko's coverage of social networking service (SNS) games and Chinese microblogging sites ("weibo").

If your company subscribes to our annual research you will receive the 2011 Six-Month Update Report, including the mobile games analysis. If not, subscribe now to get all of our 2011 reports, an on-site presentation about the market, and a block of consulting time. To subscribe to our research or purchase individual reports, including a bulletin on Chinese Mobile Gaming (extracted from our Six-Month Update), please contact Lisa Hanson lisa@nikopartners.com or Megan Carriker megan@nikopartners.com for more information, or purchase directly via our online research store.
