The "Baidu Post Bar" plans to launch in-house developed social networking service (SNS) games in 2011. Baidu has plans for their SNS site to take over the giants Renren.com and Kaixin001.com within two years, aiming to be the second-largest SNS in China at least. Throughout Asia and North America, SNS games have been booming and the expansion and acquisition of companies like Zynga, PlayFish, Playdom and others is proof of their success. It seems unlikely that SNS gaming is a bubble rather there seems to be a stable, solid future for SNS games. As of early 2010, 88% of the gamers we surveyed played SNS games. In our annual report, we also estimated that China could have 100 million new gamers over the next 2-3 years driven by new SNS games, MMOs and casual games. We believe that SNS games introduce gamers to the world of online gaming and they build their experience with them, but more interestingly SNS games are taking market share away from MMORPGs by the hard-core gamers' interest in SNS games for something easy, fun and very social to do with their free time.

Compared to the original launch of the iPhone in China, the iPhone 4 launch was a success - but maybe too much of a success. One of Apple's Beijing stores lifted the two-per-customer iPhone 4 limit and the outcome was chaos as scalpers toted off boxes of iPhones, even offering to sell the iPhones to other customers in line for a $70-per-iPhone markup. A fight broke out between customers and scalpers and the result is that an ID is now required for all iPhone 4 purchases at all four Apple Store locations in China, with a limit of one iPhone per customer. Niko feels that it is testimony to Apple's strength of brand that Chinese customers would wait in line and pay the high cost of an iPhone instead of getting a Shanzai phone.
