AJFCA is thrilled to introduce the two inaugural Joseph Kaplan Memorial Scholarship award winners chosen from among many compelling applications. The 2011 AJFCA Inaugural Joseph Kaplan Memorial Scholarship award winners were Barbara Kuhn, Director of JFS of Greater Santa Barbara and Rabbi Tamar Malino, Executive Director of Spokane Area JFS. Both of these executives from smaller AJFCA agencies received complimentary registration to the AJFCA Annual Conference. AJFCA received kind letters expressing their gratitude.

Developing Support and Educational Awareness for Young Breast Cancer Survivors in the United States
The purpose of this project is provide structured support services (including case management/patient navigation assistance) to young women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families and/or caregivers; and develop educational and awareness resources aimed at enhancing patient and provider knowledge of health behaviors and other strategies for reducing the risk of recurrences, development of new malignancies, chronic disease onset, and improving overall health and quality of life of young (<45) breast cancer survivors cancer (YBCS).

Foundations Sign Their Own Giving Pledge
The Giving Pledge has inspired yet another pledge for big donors: Today more than 60 of the country's foundations have signed Philanthropy's Promise, a pledge to channel a majority of their grant money to needy people as well as to advocacy efforts and projects that encourage citizens to get involved in their communities.
