Dear Friend: We did it! The Governor and Legislature have reached a budget agreement that includes great news for our state park system. The final budget includes $89 million for capital improvements at state parks and historic sites in every region of the state.
This historic infusion of capital will bring jobs and address critical needs in our state park system, things like replacing aging water and sewer lines and repairing bridges, roads and swimming pools. Read PTNY's press statement on the final budget.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to the Governor and state lawmakers in support of our park system! Your efforts were key to making sure parks received this boost.
The final budget also maintains the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) at $134 million. The EPF pays for programs that protect parks, valuable natural resources, and more. We will continue to work with state lawmakers to see environmental funding further enhanced in the 2012 legislative session.
Take a moment to thank the Governor, your State Senator and Assemblymember for supporting state parks by including $89 million for critical infrastructure needs and maintaining the EPF in the final budget. Best regards,
