Greetings!
Have you ever noticed that towards the end of the summer the crickets and cicadas are as loud as ever at night? Every evening they blare their proud symphony, providing us with a summer night soundtrack (or white noise) to drift off to sleep to. It reminds me of summers winding down as a kid and that hesitant feeling of never wanting it to end. Every time I am reminded that it's August, I get that same reluctant feeling and want summer to last forever. The difference is I now know how to savor each day so that I can transition into Fall with grace and acceptance, with no regrets about the warm, sunny, fun-filled days of summer. Every summer day I am sure to either soak up the sun's healing rays, get to the beach to breathe in that fresh salty air, enjoy walks around my lovely little town, eat dinners outside, watch the sunset, etc. How do you appreciate these beautiful summer days? Planning ahead, September is Yoga Month where studios nationwide offer one FREE week of yoga classes. Now's the time to check out a studio in your area! If you're in the Jersey Shore area and around on September 18th, please keep your schedule open! I will be teaching at this year's Global Mala event, on the beautiful shore of Sea Bright, sponsored by the two yoga studio's that I teach for. Global Mala is a day where yogis from all over the world come together to flow through 108 sun salutations, to promote peace and happiness. Proceeds for this Global Mala that I'll be teaching for will go to the Clean Ocean Action. Please purchase your ticket here. I appreciate being able to share my newsletter with you. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you feel may be interested. Wishing you health & happiness! Namaste,

Lauren's Peachy Yogurt Granola Crunch If you've been lucky enough to pick up a basket of fresh nectarines or peaches from your local farmers market lately, you know how deliciously in season they are! I've been tossing this simple concoction together every morning and just can't get enough of it. Of course, I encourage you to consume dairy-free cultured yogurts, or at least organic yogurt. Keep in mind, whenever you consume any kind of yogurt be sure to check the ingredients. Yogurt is an easy food for companies to sneak in additives and sugars (especially those labeled non-fat or fat-free, or flavored, etc.). Opt for plain yogurts and sweeten it yourself, as I did here in this recipe. Between the sweet peach and granola, your sweet tooth will be pleasantly satisfied. Same goes for granola, especially if it's store-bought. Be sure to check the sugar content, oils they used, etc.. You're better off baking your own, so try my low sugar, nutritious recipe that you can download and print for yourself (below). It's so freakin' easy and your house will smell like a cookie for days!!
Ingredients: 1 peach (sliced and diced) 1/2 container of plain yogurt (I adore So Delicious's Plain Cultured Coconut Milk Yogurt) handful of granola (download My Granola Recipe) *optional, but totally recommended: a sprinkle of chia seeds and/or your favorite nuts
Directions: Stir ingredients together. Sit down and savor each juicy, sweet and crunchy bite!! How satisfying is it to eat foods that are in season?
