Tee Time for Tibbits
Whether you're an avid golfer or just play around at golf, come join us for Tibbits annual Golf Outing sponsored by Monarch Community Bank!  The forecast for July 12, 2010 is predicted to be fun and sun at the Golf Club of Coldwater with your favorite team mates.  In addition to the usual prizes and games we've added a division of net and gross score winners.

But don't wait.............Early Bird registration can save your team enough cash to play in the skins game.  Pay $100 per team member by June 28 for the Early Bird special and a chance to win an exclusive door prize.  Range balls, golf cart and lunch are included in this annual fundraiser.  Be a part of Tibbits by showing off your talents in this fun, 18-hole social event.  Since it's a 4-person scramble you can even hide your shortcomings. All the proceeds from this tournament benefit Tibbits' general operations.  That means a portion of your registration is tax deductible!
Are you ready to sign up?  Call Tibbits at 517-278-6029 and ask for Becky Murfin.

From the Executive Director

As we move forward to our 47th season of Tibbits Summer Theatre it is not without a little trepidation. We are prepared for a great season...fun shows, a wonderful company with many faces you've enjoyed in the past, more improvements to the theatre, and some new attention on starting the rest of the façade.

So why trepidation? The element we cannot control...having people come. Our lives are busy and there are so many demands on our time. It's very easy to get caught up in the summer and before you know it the week is over and you've missed the show. In nine short weeks the opportunity is gone. The Barn Theatre in Augusta is closed this summer, largely because audiences forgot to come. We wish them well as they reorganize and plan to reopen next summer.

We have a wonderful historic theatre and wonderful summer stock program right here in Coldwater. I'm asking everyone in this community to make your local theatre a priority this year. Come. Bring friends. Tell your customers, your family, your neighbors. Ticket prices are reasonable ranging from $10 "rush" seats at the door up to $26. The theatre's air conditioned, there's plenty of parking, hearing assistance devices are available, and we have a friendly staff ready to assist.

So many have shown how important this theatre is through their donations. Please will you show it also, by buying tickets?

Art, Art and More Art

Thank you to the artists who contributed to the look for this season's Summer Theatre. The show posters were designed by local artist Susan Miller (Crazy For You and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Charlene Rucker (Run For Your Wife), Aaron Garn (On Broadway and the summer theatre brochure), Clovis Bordeaux (Popcorn Theatre and the new Tibbits coloring book) and Brittni Miller (front page of the 6/16/10 Shopper's Guide). What incredible talent and we are so fortunate to have them sharing it for Tibbits.

Arts Alive has a new exhibit in the Art Gallery called "City Lights, Country Nights." Enjoy it when you come to a show or check it out during regular box office hours. Their next call to artists is for the July/August exhibit "Unleashed." For details go to Arts Alive.

Congratulations to all of the young artists who were chosen to participate in Tibbits Boosters' first ever Kidz Art Rocks. Thank you to the businesses who have already stepped up to lease a piece of art. A few spots are still available if your business is interested. Cost is $80 and the child's art is yours for one year to display in your business. Photos and stories on the participating businesses will be featured throughout the year. Contact Tibbits office at 517-278-6029 for details or to sign up.

Wish List
After the torrential downpour in the city of Coldwater last month, (we heard 2-1/2 inches in 20 minutes) a new item has been added to our wish list--a generator. We thought it deserved explanation.
On May 21,the rains flooded Hanchett Street and Tibbits' courtyard. Without anywhere else to go water rushed into the elevator lobby. In addition, with the city storm drains at their maximum, excess water backed up into the theatre basement where the water lines come into the building. Of course the storm also took out power throughout the city. The storm drains have backed up before, but without power the theatre's sump pump didn't work to send it back out of the building.
We thank the 100 or so kids and parents who patiently waited out the storm in the dark in the theatre (the emergency lights work well) waiting to proceed with their dress rehearsal for the Dance Factory dance recital. Thank you also to Home Depot for offering to help.
And thus a generator has now been added to the wish list.
Not that flooding is a regular occurrence, but we'd like to follow the Boy Scout lead and always be prepared.
