Making Family Traditions

Summer Theatre wouldn't be complete without a set of lively offerings for the young and the young at heart. Mixed with some juice and pocorn, autographs after the show and you have the makings of great family traditions and the fun of Tibbits Popcorn Theatre.

Popcorn Theatre opens June 18 with Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The classic story comes to life with a refreshing twist and turn through dance and comedy. Goldilocks stumbles on the home of a family of Bears in the deep woods and causes comic mayhem.

Lots of fun is in store with The Emperor's New Clothes which opensJuly 2. Peter, the mischievous tailor, comes up with a sure-fire get-rich-quick scheme to embarrass the vain Emperor and make off with a basket of gold.

On July 16 everyone will enjoy Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. The two cautionary tales are woven into a lively performance where the audience helps the Three Pigs build their homes and aids Little Red escape the clutches of the big, bad, but funny, wolf.

After last year's popularity, Abracadabra Magic Show will return July 30. A fun-filled and magical show from the Magic Capital of the World -- Colon, MI. Each performance features a different artist and his unique illusions. Come be amazed and amused at the illusions of Rick Fisher, Christian Hill, Rodney Palmer and Alan Kazam.

All shows run for two weekends, Friday and Saturday at 10 am. Tickets are $7 and include popcorn and juice at intermission. They go on sale in April.
Kuungana Drum & Dance Co.

KCollins
Kevin Collins is a name many in the area may recognize as he's performed in the schools, at churches, festivals and even the Branch Area Career Center numerous times over the past 7 years. In April as part of Tibbits Young Audiences' school programming Kevin will appear at a half a dozen schools with his drums and charismatic presentation. He teaches the African culture while instilling great lessons on hard work and self esteem. We'll conclude his stay with a performance by his Kuungana Drum & Dance Co.

Drummer

Costumes, dance, rhythm and drums evoke the traditions of West Africa. Audiences will see, hear and feel the music and energy of the performance.
Part of Celebrating Cultural Connections, there will be an opportunity to see and learn about many different cultures in the Tibbits Art Gallery prior to the show. For

Samuel Homer Cole
Aug. 10, 1935 - March 5, 2010
Tibbits lost a dear friend with the passing of Sam Cole. Sam worked for the theatre for nearly 20 years keeping the building going, the shows lit, the boiler on and the music playing. He was a resourceful man who managed to fix things sometimes with only a wish and a prayer. He was a dear man and he will be sorely missed by many.
