Isn't it odd how technology changes the very way we use language?  Forty years ago if you were "taping" something, you most likely would have been holding onto two pieces of paper that needed to be adhered together.  By the mid-1980s everyone was "taping" their favorite shows on television with their VCRs.  Today we're still "taping" shows, without using "tape" to do it! 
 
The same goes for the latest catch phrase "social networking."  Even 5 years ago, if someone had said, "Let's get some social networking done," you probably would have thought you were headed to a cocktail party!  Today that phrase is used to describe internet sites focused on building relationships between users - Twitter, MySpace, FaceBook, and many more.
