This week: The Blanks...
Ted's Band from Scrubs
Saturday night's performance by The Blanks is proving to be a draw for audiences from across Michigan and as far away as Cincinnati and the Chicago area. The Blanks, also known as "Ted's Band" from the hit ABC show "Scrubs," will perform their original family friendly, a cappella comedy show at 8 pm on Saturday, September 19.
The show combines television and movie theme songs, jingles and even toys that sing. The group writes many of its own arrangements and in the case of the toys, writes the songs for the toys. The toys sing lead and the group sings backup for them. Their repertoire includes such themes as "Charles in Charge," "Superman March," "Underdog," and the "Six Million Dollar Man."

Tweets, Blogs & LOL ;)
Isn't it odd how technology changes the very way we use language? Forty years ago if you were "taping" something, you most likely would have been holding onto two pieces of paper that needed to be adhered together. By the mid-1980s everyone was "taping" their favorite shows on television with their VCRs. Today we're still "taping" shows, without using "tape" to do it! The same goes for the latest catch phrase "social networking." Even 5 years ago, if someone had said, "Let's get some social networking done," you probably would have thought you were headed to a cocktail party! Today that phrase is used to describe internet sites focused on building relationships between users - Twitter, MySpace, FaceBook, and many more. Tibbits, like many small organizations and businesses, has taken advantage of this new technology opportunity to reach current supporters, audience members, and not-yet-attendees! So the next time you "log on" (no, that doesn't mean throw another piece of wood on the fire), follow what's happening at Tibbits by reading their "tweets" on Twitter or becoming a "fan" on FaceBook. It's a great new way to support a wonderful old favorite! PS - If you don't know how to sign up on either site - www.twitter.com or www.facebook.com, try asking the closest teenager.
