Wellness Community E-News

Greetings!
All of us have been affected by cancer. And if you live or work in the East Bay, someone you know has been helped by The Wellness Community.
Since we opened our doors in Walnut Creek in 1990, The Wellness Community has served over 15,000 cancer patients and their families. We now provide support, education and hope to more people than ever before -- over 1200 visits from over 400 individuals just last month!
I will be sending you this e-newsletter every week or two to keep you posted on new programs, events and other items of interest at The Wellness Community.
Thank you for your support and for making a difference for people facing cancer.
Wishing you wellness,
Jim Bouquin |

Welcome to Wellness Newcomers Meetings
You are welcome to visit The Wellness Community at any time, but we especially recommend that you begin by attending a Newcomers Meeting. These informational sessions are led by a cancer survivor who will introduce you to our wide variety of programs and services.
Newcomers Meetings are held every Monday at 7:00 pm and every Friday at 11:00 am. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, these sessions -- and all services and programs at The Wellness Community -- are always free of charge to people dealing with cancer. |
Strides for Hope Big Sur conquered...
on to San Francisco!
Strides for Hope is our marathon training and fundraising program. We train our team members for the distance they want to achieve -- a marathon, half marathon, or even a 5K -- and they receive pledges from their friends, family and co-workers to support The Wellness Community. Our first 2009 team just completed the Big Sur Marathon, together raising over $14,000.
Now is the time to join our second team for the San Francisco Marathon on July 26. We use a friendly run/walk training approach that is accessible for most fitness levels, and our fundraising goals are modest and achievable. Get fit, have fun, and support The Wellness Community! Please contact Amy Alanes at 925-933-0107 or aalanes@twcba.org for more information. |
Youth and Family Programs
Kids Circle and Teen Talk
Our Kids Circle and Teen Talk programs are for familes with school-age children when a parent has cancer. Each workshop has an activity-based group for children where they identify feelings and learn coping skills, a support group for teens, and a group for parents to learn how to support their family and communicate with their children while facing cancer. The workshop includes lunch and family activities.
The next Kids Circle and Teen talk programs are at The Wellness Community on Saturday, May 9, and Saturday, June 6. Please call 925-933-0107 to register to attend. |
