Well, April was a busy month for your local newsletter author, so this edition is late!  There will be a May issue following soon, so keep your emails eyes open for upcoming events.

Music at the Harbor Announces 2011 Schedule

The Port Sanilac Music at the Harbor committee is proud to announce its 2011 event schedule.  All of these events are free of charge to the public thanks to generous donations from our local businesses and the Port Sanilac Downtown Development Authority.  Please take time out during an event this summer to thank a committee member for all of their hard work to make this program possible.

Schedule of Events - all events at Harbor Park at the foot of Main Street, next to the Harbor, unless otherwise listed.

 

Sat June 25: Ourselves - Port Sanilac's own Celtic band, will open our series with a variety of tunes.

 

Sat July 2:  Holiday Parade with the Mount Clemens Regulars - a Civil War era baseball team, the Mount Clemens Regulars challenge the Port Sanilac Fire and Police departments, following the parade at the Bark Shanty Community Center.  www.regularsbbc.org

 

Sun July 3: The Lash - Celtic Rock just preceding our spectacular fireworks  http://www.thelash.com

Sat July 23:  The Bill Denbrock Big Band - this band features arrangements typical of the great big band era - Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, and many more!

Sat July 30 (Port Sanilac Summer Festival):  Golden Harvest - Dance tunes from the 60s through the 80s.

Sat August 13:  Blue Water Folk Society - This event will be a Thumbfest Benefit.  Come join in the fun as performers and audience combine to create an exciting and interactive show.  http://bluewaterfolk.org/

 The Port Sanilac Farmers' Market is gearing up for the 2011 season.  If you are interested in participating in the market as a vendor please review the rules and send in an application.  We are always looking for new participants!

Sunday, May 1, 1:00 pm:  Volunteer and Docent training at the Museum.  If you are interested in helping out at the Sanilac County Historical Museum and Village please attend this important training event.  It takes 35 people to run the average event at the Museum, your help is invaluable.  Please email if you plan to attend  museumnews@gmail.com

 

Sunday, May 1, 3:00 pm:  Classical Concert at the Museum Church featuring Jane Lehman on the French horn and Victoria Banks on the piano.  $10 at the door.  Call 810-622-9946 for more information.

Sunday, May 22, 12 noon:  2nd Annual Free Day at the Museum for Sanilac County Residents.  Bring the whole family and explore the history of Sanilac County!  Call 810-622-9946 for more information.

 

Fridays, May 27 - October 14, 3:00 pm:  Port Sanilac Farmers' Market begins!  Weekly market featuring locally produced foods and crafts.  Located on M-25, just North of the Firehall.  Call 810-404-3746 for information.

 

May 28 - September 5, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm:  Guided tours of the Sanilac County Historical Museum and Village every Wednesday through Sunday.  $5 Adults, $4 Seniors, $2 Children.  Call 810-622-9946 for more information.
