| The Gray Cottage a Treasure to be Explored |
Are you looking for just the right item to complete your room? Do you enjoy browsing beautiful antiques? Are you seeking the ideal gift for that special someone? Then look no further than The Gray Cottage. Located at 7170 Main St. (M-46) (in the second block West of the stop light), the Gray Cottage is Port Sanilac's premier antique shop.
Opened in 2007, it is a labor of love for the proprietor, Gene Denison. Gene spends his winter months traveling the country seeking out the fabulous items that fill his shop. As an artist himself, Gene looks for especially beautiful or unusual items for his stock. Rather than approaching the antique business from a collectors viewpoint, Gene sees antiquing with a decorator's eye. He specializes in original oil paintings, especially landscapes and still-lifes.
The Gray Cottage also features a number of newer art items created by artists from the Port Sanilac area. Gene's own decorator tiles are displayed throughout the shop along with the work of many other local artists.
Gene has also worked with these local artists to form an informal Artists' Guild for Port Sanilac. Gene, along with Ray and Beth Emond host a number of art classes at The Village Pottery Studio & Gallery. These classes include pottery, porcelain painting, oil-painting, and other topics. If you are interested in joining a class please contact Beth Emond at 810-622-8320 or bethemond@hotmail.com.
The Gray Cottage is open every weekend throughout the summer from 11 am to 5 pm. Public restrooms are available and browsers are welcomed. Look for the OPEN flag and stop in to fill your eyes with beauty. |
