The Van Camp House - The Freshest and the Finest

If you are seeking a fine dining experience The Van Camp House is the place to be.  Opened in 2006 by Andy and Pam Fabian, the Van Camp House offers a wide variety of fine American cuisine coupled with a relaxed and elegant dining atmosphere.

The Van Camp HouseThe Van Camp House is located in the original Van Camp Homestead, which was built in 1870.  In 2004 Andy and Pam purchased the home and began renovating it with the intention of opening a restaurant.  The house retains its stately Victorian feel, while offering the comforts of a modern dining establishment.

The cuisine prepared by Chef Andy and his staff is only the freshest and finest, nothing is ever frozen or pre-made.  Weekly, Andy visits the Eastern Market and chooses the best fruits and vegetables for his weekend menu.  Four local, organic farmers provide the Van Camp House with fresh produce year 'round.  Andy's ocean sea food is flown in fresh from Seattle and his local sea food comes from Dick Lixie in Port Huron.  This careful attention to detail and quality guarantees that the Van Camp House menu is unsurpassed.

An additional benefit to Andy's rule of the Freshest and the Finest is that each meal is made individually as it is ordered.  This allows Chef Andy's kitchen to provide excellent meals to those people with special dietary needs.  Please be sure to speak to your server about vegetarian options, diabetic choices, and other specialty foods.

The Van Camp House also boasts a full bar.  Tended by Maxx, the bar has a wide variety of specially chosen wines all meant to be paired with Andy's unique cuisine.  These wines include vintages from our local vintners, the Blue Water Winery.  Mixed drinks and fine coffee are also available to complement your meal.

Chef Andy FabianAlthough all of Chef Andy offers a premier fine dining experience, he does so at an affordable dining cost.  Each weekend the Van Camp House features up to five items at $15 or less, and kids always eat for free.  Andy and Pam believe that fine dining should be attainable to everyone.

Outside of his culinary achievements, Andy Fabian is also a great supporter of the community at large.  Through the cooperation and contributions of his customers Andy has developed a scholarship program for college bound students.  Each year eligible students compete in an essay contest, judged by a board of Van Camp House patrons, for scholarship money.  Last year students were awarded over $3,500 toward their college educations!

The Van Camp House is opens each week Thursday through Saturday at 4 pm.  Reservations are recommended, please call or email Chef Andy at 810-622-0558 or thevch@sbcglobal.net.  You can also visit the Van Camp House at www.vancamphouse.com

The Van Camp House will be closed over Mother's Day Weekend so that Andy and Pam can attend their son's graduation from the Culinary Institute of America in New York!

The Harbor Light Gallery, attached to the Raymond House Inn, is an often overlooked treasure of our small town.  Owned by Cristy and Gary Bobofchak the Harbor Light Gallery specializes in hand made gifts and fine photography.

Silverware BraceletsThis beautiful shop plays host to the products of a number of local artists.  When you stop in to see Cristy you will find hand-made antique button jewelry, local pottery, locally designed silverware creations, and much more.

Most outstanding is the fine photography displayed throughout the Gallery.  Professionally trained photographer, Gary Bobofchak, uses his large format, film cameras to capture the beauty of the natural world.  His photographs transport the viewer to beautiful moments in time.  An often captured subject of Gary's is the Port Sanilac Lighthouse.  His photographs of this Port Sanilac icon are both stunning and majestic.  Just the opportunity to glimpse Gary's work is worth a stop in the Gallery.
