All the Good News about Port Sanilac

Greetings!
March in Port Sanilac came in like a lamb and has left in the same way.  Our mild winter is warming into a beautiful spring.  Already the grass is beginning to green and the birds are singing.  Now is the perfect time to get outdoors and begin your yard clean-up.

For all of you with cabins in the Port Sanilac area, the snow has melted and your driveways are passable.  Come spend a lovely spring weekend with us!

As you assess your spring and summer projects keep Raymond Hardware in mind for your supplies.  They are open 7 days a week for all of your home improvement needs.

Port Sanilac Marina Warms Up for the Summer

Sailboat
Do you enjoy sailing, power boating, or kayaking?  Then your first stop in Port Sanilac should be the Port Sanilac Marina.  Owned by the Kolascz family since 1977, this marina offers the finest of amenities to boaters.  If you are not fortunate enough to own a boat, don't despair, there are many opportunities for you at the Marina, too.

For boat owners Port Sanilac Marina offers dockage, storage (both outdoor and indoor-heated storage), a full service department, US Boat Towing, and new and used boat sales.  The Port Sanilac Marina also provides a well-stocked Skipper's Store to fill those last minute and emergency needs.

For the non-boater there are a variety of opportunities at the Marina to introduce you to the water.  Kayak sales and rentals are a newer aspect of business for the Marina.  For less than $50 you can spend an afternoon floating along the shoreline in a rented kayak.  Kayaks can also be rented for use at private cabins for multiple days.

The Port Sanilac Sail Club always welcomes new members and is not limited to boat owners.  Sailors are always in search of crew members, so joining the sail club is a great way to get your feet wet without investing in your own boat.

For more information on the Marina, its offerings, and ways to get into the water in Port Sanilac, come to the Port Sanilac Marina Spring Openhouse, Saturday, April 10.  This family event will feature fantastic incentives for new and used boat sales, prize raffles, a splicing and knot tying seminar, and a line throwing contest.  The featured speaker will be a master sailmaker discussing his trade and how it affects you.  Everyone is welcome to enjoy the start of boating season festivities, so stop in between 10 am and 5 pm on April 10 and join in on the fun.

Farmers' Market Making Plans

Farmers' Market Logo
The Port Sanilac Farmers' Market has begun planning for the 2010 season.  The Village ordinance has been changed (thanks to the Village Council for their support) to include vendors from Huron and Tuscola counties.  This will allow many more vendors, of greater variety, to join our market!

If you are interested in becoming a vendor at the Port Sanilac Farmers' Market contact Market Manager, Caroline Goetze, at 989-864-3373 for information.  Or look us up on our website:  portsanilac.net

The Market will open on Friday, May 29th at 2 pm.  It will be open every Friday through Friday, October 15th.

Also on the schedule for the Farmers' Market are Saturday market days.  Beginning on Saturday, July 17th and running through Saturday, September 4th, the market will be open on both Friday and Saturday afternoons from 2 pm to 7 pm.

All throughout the summer the Farmers' Market is planning special events.  Stay tuned to the Port Sanilac Portal for details and dates.  Information will also be listed on the Port Sanilac website:  portsanilac.net .
