All the Good News about Port Sanilac

Greetings!
January roared in with some lovely snow for our home town.  The snow mobilers were out in force and having a wonderful time.

As the days begin to lengthen opportunities for sportsmen of all types abound.  On the harbor you will find ice fishermen and inland there are cross country skiers, snow mobilers, and hockey players.  Stop by the Huron Shores Golf Club on any given weekend and join the legions of children racing down hill on their sleds.

Port Sanilac is truly a winter wonderland this time of year.  Take a few minutes out of your busy day to slow down and enjoy the beauty of winter in Port Sanilac.
Willis' Marketplace - A New Face on a Hometown Institution
Eric Willis and the Staff of Willis' MarketplaceIf you've been through Port Sanilac lately you may have noticed the new signage on our grocery store.  Formerly known as Jeff's Marketplace the store has been renamed Willis' Marketplace and is under new ownership!

Eric Willis, a lifetime resident of Port Sanilac, purchased the grocery store in late December 2009.  After many years of working for other people, Eric and his wife Stacy, decided to take on the adventure of owning a small business and bought the grocery store.

They come to the business with a lot of experience in the grocery trade.  Stacy was raised by parents who are "mom and pop grocers" and together Eric and Stacy also own the Pine Hill Market at Applegate Corners and the Applegate Market in Applegate.  They hope to take their experience in this field and use it to expand and build the business here in Port Sanilac.

Eric and Stacy have some big plans for the Marketplace.  Already construction has begun on expanding the interior space of the store.  The space that formerly housed Ehardt's Pharmacy is being incorporated into the produce department.  This extra space will allow for a larger produce selection and an expanded wine department.  Also planned is an expansion of the fresh baked goods department.

But don't worry, Willis' Marketplace will not be eliminating the wonderful things that the Market has always been known for.  The Marketplace will continue to offer excellent meats and homemade sausages.  The butcher department is always happy to provide you with custom cuts of meat to fill your carnivorous needs.  The Willis' Marketplace will also continue to offer high-quality gasoline and diesel through its contract with Valero.

Currently the Marketplace is waiting for approval of its liquor license, once that is completed Eric will again be offering beer, wine, and liquor at competitive prices, conveniently available at the same place you get your groceries.

Print out this newsletter and present the coupon for Willis' Marketplace during the month of February to receive $5.00 off a $50.00 grocery purchase.

This mineral enhancement is widely used by knowledgeable master gardeners and garden club members.

A purchase of RICH EARTH will not only lower your summer grocery bill by increasing  your vegetable yield, but will also help to support the Sanilac County Humane Society, our local, independent, no-kill shelter.

Port Sanilac's New Dollar Store Provides Everyday Needs
The developers of the Blue Water Inn building, Dave and Jeannie Harper, have opened a new storefront along Main Street.  The Dollar Store is a welcome addition to our town, providing many of the everyday items that would have required a drive to Sandusky or Port Huron in the past.

The Dollar Store is open daily.  Offering everything from greeting cards to cleaning supplies andValentine's Day Supplies at the Dollar Store decorator items to office supplies the Dollar Store fills a much needed niche' in our community.

The store is managed daily by Carrie Crane.  Although most of the items in the store retail for $0.99 there are some more expensive items.  This price differential allows Carrie to stock a wider variety of items for the Port Sanilac consumer.  In addition to the items listed previously, the Dollar Store also sells party balloons, gift wrap, and seasonal items.  Look to them for your Valentine's and St. Patrick's Day supplies.

You can call ahead to the store to see if they have what you are looking for:  810-622-0178.  If they don't have it, ask Carrie if she can stock it in the future.  She is happy to fill special requests.

The Dollar Store is located at 7307 Main St.  Open Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 12 noon to 6 pm
