The annual Halloween costume contest, hosted by the Port Sanilac Parks and Rec committee, was once again a great success.  This annual event kicks off trick-or-treating in Port Sanilac each year.  Participants gather at the Township Hall (next to Mary's Diner) to show off their costumes, share doughnuts and cider, and get treat bags.  Here people meet to form their trick-or-treating groups, share stories, and start the night off with celebration.

 

This year over 60 children participated in the contest and received treat bags.  Twelve dozen donuts and four gallons of cider were shared by the crowd.  Some of the favorite costumes included Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, complete with a live Toto; a darling jack-in-the-box, a tiny UPS delivery man, and an adult dressed as a cleaning bucket.  
 

We look forward to next year's contest and festivities.  Special thanks go out to the Parks and Rec committee who organized this event.

Once again, Rosemarie Ouellette and her team of "elves" will be hosting a Christmas party for the Village of Port Sanilac.

 

The party, scheduled for Saturday, December 12 at   4 pm, will be at the Bark Shanty Community Center.

 

There will be hot dogs, chilli, desserts, and drinks for all.  Santa Claus will drop in for a visit and pictures with the kids.  Children will be able to build a bird feeder and parents can participate in a raffle for a variety of beautiful items.  Admission is free, but please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food pantry.
