RCI FirstPathway Partners would like to congratulate Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley for winning the 2009 People's Choice Phoenix Award for outstanding brownfield redevelopment.
This award presented at the 2009 Brownfields National Conference in New Orleans is one of the nation's top honors. This success was made possible by a $16-million city tax incremental district and $24 million in state and federal grants.
"The Phoenix Award provides gratifying affirmation of the city's bold strategy to redevelop the Menomonee Valley," Mayor Tom Barrett said. "The project began with a vision that Wisconsin's largest brownfield property could become a new home for industry and employment and an attractive recreational space for our community...The valley has been transformed into a vital and sustainable economic center for Milwaukee."
