Questions Raised By Flawed Stimulus Job Figures
Hundreds of Louisiana Jobs Listed as "Saved or Created" May Be Incorrect or Exaggerated
New Orleans, LA -
Dec. 3, 2009
The issue of phantom Congressional districts listed in the
national stimulus database recently created a stir. But the
tally of Louisiana jobs allegedly saved or created by
President Obama's signature domestic policy program
raises more substantive questions about this database.
An analysis of the database reveals:
475 jobs attributed to projects that have not been started
171 jobs chalked up to small raises given to Head Start
workers
100 low-paying work study jobs on college campuses
These are just some examples of questionable figures in
the statewide data analyzed by The Pelican Institute for
Public Policy.
