A prayer for our work
'I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.' Jeremiah 29: 11
Dear friends,
Prayers for our work in Iraq
During the coming months, there are several things that we'd love you to remember in your prayers.
Last week, I mentioned the possible expansion of St George's Clinic, Baghdad. Please do continue to pray about that important next step in our work. Please pray for sound judgement in the decision over whether to expand - and for the increased resources we'll need if we do develop the service.
And please do continue to pray for the clinic's medical team, and all those who keep the service running on a daily basis; they do an amazing job for those most in need - caring for a total of 8,000 local households.
Another, ongoing, prayer request concerns how we get medicine to the clinic. At present, International Health Partners kindly donates the drugs we need. But there are continuous difficulties in importing the supplies due to corruption at the border control. Please pray for us in our decision over whether to continue importing the medicine to Iraq, or to buy them in-country with the additional costs that will incur.
Visas
Gaining visas for Iraq is increasingly difficult, and Andrew has asked that you do please pray about that. Several visitors are due to visit St George's in the coming months, including God TV, who are due to film with us. We pray that will still be possible.
Resources
We praise God for the generous donations of supporters, which makes our work possible. Please pray that resources will continue to be forthcoming, particularly in light of a possible expansion of the clinic, and the resources needed to equip a kindergarten for local children, for which Andrew would particularly appreciate your prayers.
Reconciliation
Please do continue to remember our reconciliation work in your thoughts and prayers. It's a vital part of the Foundation's ministry, aiming to stem sectarian violence and create a safer, more harmonious society for all today, and to help build a rejuvenated Iraq for tomorrow. We'd love to hold another summit of our High Council of Religious Leaders in Iraq (HCRLI - see bottom of page in this link for further details) soon, and we believe it's vital we do so.
The religious leaders are positive about continuing the process of meeting with one another, and please do pray that the relations forged between them already through previous meetings will continue to grow and prove fruitful, through God's grace.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers.
If you have a prayer for our work which you'd like to share, I'd love to hear from you.
Every blessing
