Canon Andrew in Washington
A prayer for our week ahead
'You are the people of God. He loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Be tolerant with one another.'
Dear friends,
Demonstrations
Iraq's streets continue to fill with protesters aiming to highlight political corruption, unemployment and a shortage of basic facilities including food, electricity and water.
The protests have seen groups gather in their hundreds across the country. Yesterday, Canon Andrew told us that Baghdad was already gearing up for further protests today.
He said: 'For most of the day there was not even any internet. Already we can hear the rockets flying and pounding.'
Please pray for peace as the people of Iraq highlight their struggles and their wishes during this time of uncertainty. And please pray for the people of St George's Church, and of wider Baghdad, for peace on their streets, and a successful outcome to the demonstrations.
The Canon's trip to America
Next week, Andrew flies to the US to speak in churches and meet with supporters. He has asked us to pray for his trip, which he is very much looking forward to.
He will arrive at Bill and Beni Johnson's Bethel Church in Redding, California, on Wednesday, where he'll stay until the following Monday. He'll then travel to Chicago, where, alongside a speaking event Wheaton College, Andrew will also have the chance to meet Fulla and her family, who were members of his congregation at St George's before moving to the US last year.
Andrew has also been asked to visit Rick Warren at the Saddleback church.
Andrew has had a great many invitations to visit and speak during his trip, and is sorry that he won't be able to fit in everything he'd like.
Please do pray that Andrew has a safe journey and a special time with his US friends and supporters.
Peter's marathon for peace
Our Director, Peter Marsden, runs the first-ever Jerusalem Marathon next Friday, to raise vital funds for FRRME.
Peter's aiming to raise £2,000 for us.
Please pray that he has a safe, peaceful and special time there. Please pray the event is a success and that Peter, and all the participants, enjoy a wonderful run through the city.
For more information on Peter's run for reconciliation, or to sponsor him, please do visit his JustGiving page.
Book Launch
The start of April will see the official launch of Faith Under Fire, Andrew's latest book.
Andrew will return to the UK for the week, when he'll be promoting the book and speaking to supporters.
Please pray for a productive, successful launch. And if you'd like to attend the official launch, in London on the evening of April 8, we'd be delighted to have you.
We have a limited number of invites, so if you'd like to come along please do email pauline@frrme.org for further details as soon as possible.
