In quietness and trust
'But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.'
Dear friends,
The Inspiring St George's
Isaiah tells us that in quietness and trust we find our strength. Finding quiet, even making time for it, can seem like a challenge - even here in sleepy Hampshire. It can be easy for us all, during a busy working day, to lose sight of God's hand on the tasks we take on, to talk over Him, or neglect to place our trust in Him. In Baghdad, life is anything but quiet. It is also full of uncertainty, hardship, violence and heartbreak. Yet, in spite of their hardship, the people of St George's Church stand firm in their faith. Through their trust in God, they find the strength they so need, and joy in the knowledge that, through everything, He is with them. Despite their trials, they journey on with God and know that, even in those times when He is quiet, he walks beside them still. Please pray that our friends at St George's are blessed with time for quiet, and peace. We pray that they continue to trust in God, feel joy in their journey with Him, and feel His presence in everything they do. And we pray that we all take inspiration from them. A prayer for the persecutors. As we remember all those facing persecution in Iraq, may we pray also for those who persecute, that God's grace would move among them. May they know His peace, love and forgiveness. A prayer for our Clinic St George's Clinic, based on the same site as our church in Baghdad, provides essential free medical treatment for 100 people each day. It cares for a total of around 8,000 local households. Our medical team includes Christians, Jews, Shia and Sunni Muslims. They are local Iraqis, and they want to see their community reconciled, so they serve side-by-side each day to provide free healthcare for everyone, equally. Please pray for the protection of our team there, and for the work they do. It costs $14,000 or £9,100 each month to run the clinic. Please pray that funds will enable this vital work to continue.
A prayer for Faiz and Nawal Could we please pray for our St George's lay pastor, Faiz, and wife and Mother's Union leader at the church, Nawal. The pair play a vital role in our work, and are taking a well-earned - and extremely rare - break for a couple of days, away from Iraq. Please pray that they have a wonderful time, a chance to rest, and recharge. A prayer to share One of our supporters, Ed, prays that we remember we are led by the Prince of Peace. 'He endured the cross and suffered persecution, and won, without lifting a hand in defence. It is through Christ that we can win by being peacemakers. It is by following His example that we will prevail. Amen.' Thank you, so much, for your continued prayers. If you have a prayer for our work which you'd like to share, I'd love to hear from you.
