Through darkness and light
'For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God.'
Dear friends,
The last week has been one of great hope, and terrible sadness.
Our Copenhagen Summit proved to be a huge success, enabling some of Iraq's most senior religious figures to meet face-to-face and discuss the crisis facing their country's minorities. It helped strengthen relations between the leaders - a hugely important step if they are to work together towards forming a peaceful and secure state of Iraq. Further still, the enormous value of these summits has been recognised. Please do pray that we will indeed be able to unite these leaders again soon to further build upon the positive steps taken in Copenhagen. A painful week Yet the hope of the past week has been marred by further violence in Iraq, a painful reminder of the enormity of the task we face, and the critical nature of our work. Around 60 police recruits were killed by a suicide bomber on Tuesday in Tikrit, 150km north of Baghdad. Yesterday, 50 Shia Muslim pilgrims were killed in the Iraqi city of Karbala in two bomb attacks. Please pray for the families of those who have had loved ones taken from them. Pray that, in the coming days, weeks and months families and communities in mourning might find comfort, and hope, through the love of God. Prayers I'd like to thank you for your kind messages of support, and continued prayers for our work and our staff. Welcome also to those of you who have recently joined our prayer team. It's amazing to know that, every day, around the world - from the Middle East, to the US, Austrailia, Europe and elsewhere - people gather to pray for our work. Thank you! We pray that this network, which we value so much, continues to grow. If you have a prayer for our work which you'd like to share, I'd love to hear from you. Email me at jenny@frrme.org Every blessing to you.
