I trust you have had a good time seeing in the New Year. May it be blessed and peaceful.
We had hoped our friends in the Middle East would also enjoy a peace-filled evening. Then news broke of the suicide bombing at a Coptic church in Alexandria, Egypt.
At least 21 people perished during the attack. It happened as worshippers left the New Year service at the al-Qidiseen church at midnight. More than 40 were wounded.
Please pray for all those affected by the attack, the families of those who were killed.
The past two days have also seen further attacks on Christians in Baghdad. More people have been killed and are being targeted. Hope does not leave us
When I spoke to people in Baghdad last night they told me it was raining. One person said "It is showers of Blessings, though."
They were indeed showers of blessings. In the midst of tragedy we look for hope, and it does not fail us. Our hope comes from the Almighty.
We do not know what the year will bring, but we know for sure that God will stay with us.
I return to Baghdad on Monday and, as always, am so looking forward to my return.
This trip will last two months. Will you please pray that I have enough money to last this period? It does not usually arrive until the day before I return, so tomorrow your prayers would be greatly appreciated.
Tomorrow morning, I will speak at the New Generation Church at the Cinema in Bexleyheath, Kent, at 9.45am
In the evening I will be speaking at St Paul's Church Howell Hill, Cheam. I hope to see you at the services.
With every blessing for this coming year, Andrew White
