Canon Andrew White writes...

Special Prayer Request- and the new book
26th May 2010
Dear Friends,

Greetings and blessings from England. I finally got back here after a rather traumatic attempt to depart from Iraq. The first time I tried to leave the airport security would not allow me into the airport, despite saying that Iraq was now run by Iraqis and not foreigners. For four hours the US Army tried to get me through but this attempt failed. The plane departed, without me on it, not even near it. The next day my staff had bought me another ticket and this time I left with the staff of the Minister of Human Rights - and it worked!

Finances
On coming back I discovered again our terrible financial situation. Next month we do not have money to run our church, fund our clinic or feed our people. In addition to these costs there are extra expenses linked to the ordination of Faiz by our Bishop.

I am sorry to mention these problems again but we seriously need your prayer and help at this time. We know that our Lord will provide these needs, he always does and it is through our friends who get our updates, so thank you and please pray about what our Lord wants you to do.

Please Pray
Our work in Iraq continues by all our staff in my absence, not least as regards the major anti corruption conference, which we are organizing next month. There are a large number of meetings some of which are open to the public and are listed below. So please pray for us, we so need your support now.

With every blessing,

Canon Andrew White
Hampshire

Suffer the Children

A note from the office:

Suffer the Children - available June 3rd

We are so thrilled to have just received some advanced copies of the new book "Suffer the Children - Dispatches to and from the Front line".

The book focuses on a frequently asked question. "What keeps Canon White going?" If you have heard him speak you will know the answer: children.

From the back cover:
"In this remarkable book, he reflects for the first time on his own childhood and tells the stories of the children, from the trauma of Bethlehem and Baghdad to the tranquillity of Hampshire and North Carolina, who sustain him, teach him wisdom and reveal God to him."

The book will be made available from www.FRRME.org as soon as it has been officially released.

Conferencing & Connections in Turkey
Peter Marsden, Operations Director and Steven Bond, FRRME Intern, returned yesterday from a three day conference in Sanliurfa, near the Turkish Syrian border.

The "Abraham Meetings" grouped faith-based relief charities together in a town steeped with Biblical heritage.

Peter Marsden spoke to NGO representatives from around 10 different nations about the work of FRRME in Baghdad.

Special connections have now been made that will particularly benefit the medical care we offer from St. George's Clinic.

Pictures will soon be available from the website.
