Changes in Cablecast Procedures

As Access Tucson re-opens, producers are eagerly creating new programs for the community. The days and times of your favorite programs remain the same since the cablecast schedule was extended from last season.

However, reduced staffing has necessitated some changes for playback. The cablecast schedule for the entire week is now programmed in one day and that one day is every Tuesday. This assures that there will be staff available to assist producers with their productions on the days that Access Tucson is open to the public (Wed-Sat).

In order to schedule the week and encode the necessary episodes in one day, programs need to be turned in five working days in advance of any scheduled playback.

Encore Programs for June Closure

Similar to last year, Access Tucson will close it's facility for the month of June. All employees will be furloughed without pay for that month in order to deal with budget cuts. Programming on the channels will continue through master control automation.

Since the Access Tucson closure will prohibit the intake and processing of programs for June, we are asking that producers turn in their programs for cablecast in June by Wednesday May 5. Master control operators will be using the month of May to process the programs and pre-schedule the channels for June. The cablecast rule that producers must turn in a new episode at least every four weeks will be suspended for June.

Again, the deadline for both live and tape producers to submit programming for June is Wednesday May 5. Producers may submit up to two programs for June. Please be sure to use a cablecast calendar so staff knows which episode you want to play when.

FYI: New Hours, Afternoon Editing and Class Openings

Access Tucson is now open to the public Wednesdays through Saturdays, 2pm to 10pm.

Editing in the afternoon is back.  And just a heads up that one-on-one editing assistance may no longer be available due to reduced staffing.

There are still spots open in the digital field production class starting April 7.  Call the front desk at 624-9833 to register.
