Access Tucson Opposes Proposition 200

Please inform yourself (and others) about the negative impact of this proposition. It would amend Tucson's City Charter to prescribe mandatory minimum staff levels for police officers and mandatory minimum response times for the Fire Department. Now no one is against the police or firefighters but as Prop 200 is an unfunded mandate, who is going to pay for it?

"If Proposition 200 passes, property taxes will increase by at least 8-10%"
  - Chuck Huckelberry, Pima County Administrator

"We've seen tremendous drops in violent crime and property crime in the past few years. The number of calls for service has gone down, too."
  - Roberto Villaseņor, Tucson Chief of Police

Ironically if 200 passes, the very programs that prevent crime would most likely be cut.
