Vote Smart ButtonThe Proposition 200 threat is so serious that Access Tucson is asking each of you to take the time and care to inform yourself (and others) about the cost and consequences of this proposed unfunded mandate to the Tucson City Charter.

Breaking News: the League of Woman Voters of Greater Tucson is organizing a debate about all the propositions on the ballot. The debate will be this coming Monday 10/19 at 5:30pm at the Pima County Public Library, Main Branch Downtown

Proposition 200 Forum
Also, Access Tucson recently covered a forum about Proposition 200 organized by Primavera Foundation, Casa María and the Perimeter Bicycle Association. This ballot proposition would amend Tucson's Charter to mandate 2.4 police officers per 1000 people. Watch this forum to see how the citizens of Tucson would be affected.

As We See It is a community partnership between City High School and Pan Left Productions (a local video cooperative). Student projects include a personal still-frame narrative, a digital storytelling video, and a global issues documentary while the wide range of subject matter includes chapstick, hatred, food safety, normalcy, meth and water issues.

This week host Stuart Thomas (pictured) examines media reform.  Featured guests include Andy Roth, writer of the guest opinion "Media must cover wars, not cover them up" (Arizona Daily Star, 9-16-09). Before moving to Tucson, Roth served as the Associate Director of Project Censored from 2006-2008.

157 finalists in 56 categories announced for the 2009 WAVE Awards.

The WAVE (Western Access Video Excellence) Awards were created in 1988 to recognize and promote the best in local community programming produced in the Western region of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM). The Western region includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada and New Mexico.

LGBT Pride
Locally sponsored by member Steve Luesse, Outlook Video is a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) monthly program filled with stories from all over the country. Three of Outlook Video's episodes made the finals. One of the programs in the magazine category features a story about LGBT Pride in Tucson.
