Personal Story
 Greetings!

Osteopenia and Osteoporosis can affect 25-50% of bariatric patients.  Understanding the role of Calcium, Vitamin D, and the other medicine to treat this condition is important

Osteoporosis and Calcium

Our own research showed that almost one third of patients were low in Calcium and Vitamin D BEFORE surgery.

bariatric advantage

Facts:
Gastric Bypass patients are more likely to become calcium deficient and develop osteoporosis Research Link

Calcium requirements are 1000 milligrams per day for people under 51 and 1200 to 1500 milligrams per day for those over 51.

What Can You Do to Improve Calcium Absorption?:
1)  Take a Chewable Calcium supplement twice daily
2)  Exercise consistently.  Studies on astronauts showed that they came back with calcium deficiency due to the lack of physical activity in space.
3)  Enjoy some sunshine daily (5-10 minutes is all that is needed to convert oral Vitamin D into the kind that allows calcium to be absorbed.

If your doctor recommends one of the prescription drugs for osteopenia, we have found that many of the formulations can cause ulcers.   If medications are needed, consider the following options:
1) liquid fosamax once a month
2) miacalcin nasal spray

Ulcer
Avoid Ulcers

Just a Reminder

After a Gastric Bypass, you should never take Aspirin-type agents, since even a single pill could cause an ulcer.  Remember, the small intestine is very thin and fragile.  Ulcers can develop from a single pill of the following:
Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aspirin, Advil, Alleve

What can you take?
Tylenol
Hydrocodone (like Lortab)
Celebrex
Occasional doses of Liquid Motrin
Chewable baby aspirin

Sincerely,

Good News for

Texans
DFW Map
Dr. Kuhn provided testimony to the Texas State Board of Education, who was deciding whether Texas students could be allowed to analyze and evaluate the evidence for and against evolution.

On March 27, 2009, the State Board heard extensive testimony and reviewed hundreds of articles documenting various scientific controversies and inconsistencies of evolution.

Thankfully, the Board voted to make Texas one of the strongest states in the nation to allow students to learn the strengths and weaknesses.

The review of the false testimony given by evolutionists have also been exposed by various sites.

Overall, this battle represents a huge correction on the type of science education that blindly suggests that humans evolved through random mutations from a primitive collection of raw materials.
