Conference Meal Thank You!
Thank you to all of those who donated food, time and efforts for the teachers conference meal. We really appreciate it!! |

Note From The Nurses
We continue to monitor ILI illness levels, which have fluctuated since reaching the 5% level last week. Because H1N1 is widespread in the community, it is possible your child will be exposed to the virus. Be sure to have a childcare plan in place in the event your child becomes ill. Our nurses' webpage has been updated with additional links to H1N1/ILI information; check it out! Thank you for continuing to monitor your children, keep ill children home, and stress the importance of hand washing, covering coughs and making healthy choices.

Influenza Precautions
As an added precaution regarding the influenza season, Faithful Shepherd School will be disinfecting all door knobs inside and out, all stair railings, all drinking fountains, door jambs and pillars on a daily basis. We will continue our regular practice of wiping all cafeteria tables daily.

Another Successful Year!!
Septemberfest Profit $22K
Thanks to our FSCS community and scores of Septemberfest concert-goers, Septemberfest '09 generated a profit of $22k to benefit Faithful Shepherd Catholic School. While not a record, the profit still allows us to see the potential of this fun, community-building and awareness-generating event. Volunteers scanned over 2,000 tickets for the Saturday concert from people driving from as far as LaCrosse, WI and Grand Rapids, MN! The '09 net profit is shy of our gangbuster '08 results, mainly from a drop in event sponsors (partially due to the economic downturn and competition with our own capital campaign) and increased costs -- including more porta-potties this year! Overall, the revenue generated reinforces that we're on our way to achieving our goal of Septemberfest: Creating a community event that helps to promote FSCS within our community-at-large, while raising money for our school. A heartfelt "thank you" to our sponsors and scores of volunteers including the Septemberfest Steering Committee for all your time and effort. |

Attention Middle School Parents!
On Thursday January 21st all 7th grade students will be going to Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. Students will be working from 9:30-11:30 and in order for this service experience to happen we need the help of parent chaperones. FMSC requires that we have a minimum number of 15 chaperones (Virtus and Background Check required) in order for our students to attend. If you are interested in attending this great service opportunity with our 7th graders please contact Mrs. Carey at mcarey@fscsmn.org. Permission slips for students will be going home after Christmas Break. If you can't make it this time, the 6th grade students will be attending on Tuesday, March 16th. |

G.I.F.T.S. Award
Once a month, we will be presenting students with our G.I.F.T.S. Award. This is an acknowledgement of students who performed exceptionally in one or more of the following areas: Grades, Integrity, Faith, Talent, or Service. As we have expanded the areas of student recognition, it is our hope to reach a wider base of students and to honor them for their individual achievement in one of the above mentioned areas. Students will be nominated by their teachers and will receive a certificate recognizing their individual efforts.

Prayer Volunteers Needed
The Prayer Chain is a group of volunteers who are notified as prayers are needed. If you would like to be a part of this faith-filled committee, all you need to do is pray! If you would like to be a part of the Faithful Shepherd Prayer Chain, please contact Carol Mulvihill at (651)453-1345 or Ronda Rottjakob at rottjak@comcast.net. |
Helping Hands Volunteers Needed
Helping Hands is a group of volunteers who help families in our Faithful Shepherd community in need. These volunteers could be asked to provide meals, driving, and other ways of supporting for families in crisis. If you would like to be a part of this wonderful committee, please contact Katherine Brown Holmen kabh@dudleyandsmith.com or Ronda Rottjakob at rottjak@comcast.net. Also, if you know of a family in our Faithful Shepherd community who needs help, please don't hesitate to contact her. She will contact her group of volunteers to provide support to those families during their time of need. The Prayer Chain and Helping Hands committees are the basis of Faithful Shepherd's philosophies... to ask God to help those in need and and to bless their families during difficult times. Thank you for helping out! |
