Woman Business Owners honors area entrepreneurs
By ERIC RUTH
The News Journal
Some of Delaware's top female entrepreneurs -- and even the odd man or two -- will be honored Thursday at White Clay Creek Country Club.

The premier award being presented by the Delaware chapter of the National Association of Woman Business Owners is Business Owner of the Year, won by Cathy Imburgia, founder and owner of Creative Communications of Delaware, a marketing and employee communications firm.

Before founding the company in 1993, Imburgia served as a manager and communications specialist with Westinghouse, Boeing Co. and Hewlett-Packard. She is a journalism graduate of Pennsylvania State University.

The Bridge Builder of the Year award was won by Carol Arnott, a certified financial planner who has been active for years as an advocate for women business owners. She currently runs the Web site News4Women.org and had served as NAWBO Delaware president.

The chapter's Member of the Year award goes to Dolores Malek of Liberty XSber Shops, a health and beauty products retailer in Greenville.

The chapter will also honor corporate and government supporters of women-owned business, including Charles Gillean of AstraZeneca, Cheryl Thomas of Principal Financial Group and Mayor James Baker of Wilmington.

Keynote speaker at Thursday's dinner will be Alan Levin, director of the Delaware Economic Development Office.
