Coaching... Not Just for Sports
One of the challenges Business Coaching has is to convince business owners on the benefits of working alongside a coach to achieve growth in their business. However, when I ask them if they could every see a time when their favourite football team would be without a coach or elite athletes achieve success in their field the answer is almost invariably of course not!
ActionCOACH, the world's number one business coaching firm, has now made the connection between sports and business even more complete as we begin a campaign focusing on the benefits of business coaching titled "Coaching. Not Just For Sports."
"Just like every great athlete relies on a coach to develop a great training plan or a game plan to achieve success - more business owners than ever are relying on a business coach to help them develop a winning business plan for a more profitable business."
"The benefits of having a business mentor guide company decisions and help develop plans can really make a positive difference and can be the cause of tremendous business growth."
Additionally, a focus on numbers, accountability and systems are key factors in the ActionCOACH approach - factors that also highlight the best practices of the world's most effective sports coaches.
"The sports world is full of examples of great athletes who never reached their full potential or won a championship until they were mentored by a good coach with a great system. From Steve Redgrave and Chris Hoy to Tiger Woods and his coaches, the connection between good coaching and 'wins' is clear." Sir Clive Woodward bought philosophies and systems from the Business world to motivate and inspire the England Rugby team to world cup glory.
"For our clients, the results are the same. Over and over again, for the past fifteen years, the 'after a business coach' results far outpace the 'before a business coach' results - and it doesn't matter what category a business may be in."
Both categories are driven by numbers and statistics. Both are elevated by winners. And both attract individuals who love to compete.
Over the course of the next few months I will be linking up with Sports coaches around the region to analyse the techniques that they are using in order to get their teams fit to win and how they set up executing a game plan to achieve greater success. I am delighted to be joind by Nigel Ashley-Jones the conditioning and fitness coach from Derby County to draw parallels on the systems that he uses and the applications for the business world at the Derby 500 Club networking event at Pride Park Stadium on Thursday 30th July.
