212 degrees... the extra degree
At 211 degrees, water is hot.
At 212 degrees,it boils.
And with boiling water, comes steam.
And steam can power a locomotive.
212 degrees the extra degree is a motivational video that I often refer to in my coaching sessions. Written by Sam Parker and Mac Anderson it is part of the Simple Truth series. Why is that ONE DEGREE so powerful?
Raising the temperature of water by one extra degree means the difference between something that is very hot and something that generates enough force to power a locomotive - a beautiful, uncomplicated metaphor that ideally should feed our every endeavour - consistently pushing us to make the extra effort in every task we undertake. It reminds us that seemingly small things can make tremendous differences.
212 degrees is a message of action - it's a message of persistent and additional action- the continued application of heat (effort) to whatever task or activity you undertake to achieve not only your goals, but to reap the exponential rewards that are possible by applying the one extra degree of effort.
How many opportunities have you missed because you were not aware of the possibilities that would occur if you applied the small amount of effort beyond what you normally do?
People develop personal habits towards Action and rarely attempt to develop them further. How often are you deflected from achieving your goals through procrastination, distraction, lack of self belief, not having the right skills or the absolute Focus to do whatever needs to be done?
There are no real secrets to success. Success in everything has one fundamental aspect - effort. To achieve the results we are looking for requires additional effort. There is a simple formula to add to the 212 degrees..
Positive Thoughts x Positive Actions = Positive Results.
