ODS eBill coming soon

ODS is truly committed to making healthcare administration easier for you, and that's why we have put so much work into making our new ODS electronic billing (eBill) services the best they can be. We are pleased to announce that ODS eBill will launch for all employer groups in late June.

With eBill, you can conveniently process all ODS billing online. To access eBill, you can log in to your Employer Online Services (EOS) account. If you do not have an EOS account, you can sign up for an eBill account on the employer page of the ODS website.

ODS eBill streamlines billing tasks online, enabling you to access all employee account information with just a few clicks. In addition, you'll reduce paper waste and the ever-growing burden on physical file systems. Additional benefits of eBill include:

  • Email notification when each bill is ready
  • Email notification before a bill is due
  • Ability to set up a payment method
  • Ability to set up recurring payments

If you have any more questions on ODS eBill, please contact your ODS sales and service representative.

Acute back pain pilot program

In partnership with the Oregon Health Leadership Council and other health plans, ODS is participating in a pilot project aimed at helping members with acute low back pain. The program connects ODS members with a  participating physical therapist during the early stages of back pain, without a physician's referral or physician's order.

The goal of the project is to get patients the early care they need to lessen the onset of chronic back problems, reduce the cost of ongoing back care, and enable patients to continue with work and other normal activities.

Medical studies show that access to early physical therapy for uncomplicated acute low back pain can help patients avoid more chronic, costly conditions. This type of treatment can also improve functional status and satisfaction for the patient, and reduce time away from work.

As part of the program, members are allowed up to four visits with a physical therapist. If care is still needed after four visits, patients are referred back to their primary care provider.

The pilot program will be available through Dec. 31, 2013. To learn more about the program, please visit the ODS website.

Colorectal health screenings

Among cancers that effect both men and women, colorectal cancer - cancer of the colon or rectum - is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Colorectal cancer also is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States.

Health experts recommend screening between the ages of 50 and 75 using any of the following regimens:

  1. Annual high-sensitivity fecal occult blood testing
  2. Sigmoidoscopy every five years combined with high-sensitivity fecal occult blood testing every three years
  3. Screening colonoscopy at intervals of 10 years
You can help your employees stay healthy by reminding them of the importance of these screenings and we can help you. ODS has created a colorectal cancer reminder that you can share with your employees. For more information on how our wellness team can help you and your employees stay healthy, contact our health coaching team today at 503-948-5548 or careprograms@odscompanies.com.

Members get personal support through ODS Dental Care program

A healthy mouth and smile are important not only to a person's physical well-being but also to his or her confidence and self-esteem. However, for some, dental care may be more complex than simply visiting a dentist twice a year, and ODS is here to help.

Now, ODS members can get personalized support. Through the ODS Dental Care program, a free and confidential service, members can work one-on-one with a health coach. By phone or email, they will receive ongoing support as they address their oral health issues. A variety of topics can be explored, such as periodontal disease, specific dental procedures or how oral health impacts chronic conditions.

Participants of the program benefit from support between dental visits, educational materials and an action plan to improve oral health. They also will get help setting and meeting personal health goals.

To participate in the Dental Care program, call 503-948-5548 or 877-277-7281 or, email careprograms@odscompanies.com.

Quality profiles

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) invited ODS to submit a case study for publication in its "Quality Profiles: The Leadership Series."

The series highlights best practices and programs from the nation's leading healthcare organizations, offering guidance to healthcare providers, plan providers, group medical practices, employers and payers as they work toward excellence in patient-centered care.

Honored to be included in this well-respected publication, ODS submitted a case study highlighting the ODS Care program with details on how integrating the Patient Activation Measure into the ODS Care program helps improve patient engagement.

The full case study can be found on the ODS website.
