K-8 Workshop/Classes:

Get out your sunglasses and the sunscreen. Summer is quickly approaching. Although summer is on its way, we have still packed in many fun, exciting projects and learning experiences. Mrs. Meck's K-2 class has a very special visitor coming on 5/10 from 8:45-9:30 that her students are going to love. SSHHHH, it's a surprise! As the end of the year approaches, we will be planning end of the year parties in each of the classrooms. We will be enhancing these parties through multi-cultural presentations. The students will all be asked to bring a special food from their culture or another culture, and present it to the class. After the presentations, we will all get to enjoy the yummy food!!

"Paint-a-Mug"

Workshop

K-8 students are invited to come to the school on Friday, May 13th from 1:00-3:00 pm to participate in some springtime fun. For $13 students will be able to create their own "paint a mug" creation sponsored by Clay n' Latte. During the workshop, students will be able to paint their mugs. To set the mood, snacks and punch will be served while a movie is shown. The mugs will be dried and fired then returned to the school the week of May 23rd-27th for pickup. Don't miss out on this fun opportunity. The workshop is limited to 25 people so make sure to secure your spot by contacting Lindsay Butler. *No refunds for no-shows*

New School Pertussis Shot Requirement!

Starting July 2011, a new law, (AB 354), changing California immunization requirements for all students entering 7th-12th grades goes into effect. This law requires that starting this coming school year (2011-2012), all students entering into 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (called "Tdap") before starting school. Track 2 Enrollment

Who: All students in grades Kindergarten through 12th are encouraged to pre-enroll for Track 2 beginning August 22, 2011.

When: Complete the pre-enrollment online at www.pacificview.org on or after May 16th, 2011.

PVCS Graduation

Graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 1, 2011 @ 5:00 at the Oceanside Amphitheater. If you are scheduled to graduate, information regarding graduation was sent to you. All caps and gowns have been ordered and will be arriving in May. Your Supervisory Teacher will contact you when your order has arrived.

Graduation Rehearsal:

Graduation rehearsal will be Wed., June 1st at the Oceanside Amphitheater from 12:00-1:30 pm. Attendance at the graduation rehearsal is mandatory. Please be there on time. If you are planning to participate in the ceremony (and we want every graduate there), attendance at the rehearsal and wearing the cap and gown at the ceremony are mandatory. Be sure to arrive on time, 4:15 pm, on Wed., June 1st. A senior group picture will be taken at that time.

Scholarships

Pacific View Charter School Parent Advisory Committee will award a $250 scholarship to a graduating senior who demonstrates pride in his/her personal and academic accomplishments, has devoted service to the community, and who desires to enhance his/her future. Applications are due Friday, May 13.
