Please Donate Your Spare Change to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Help PVCS reach its goal of raising $300.00 by donating your spare change in the box at your teacher's desk from Feb. 22nd- March 12th. The teacher's students who collect the most money will win an Olive Garden luncheon.

 K-8 Corner
Teachers will be celebrating Groundhog Day on Feb 2nd. Will we have six more weeks of winter, or will spring arrive early? In celebration of Valentine's Day, there will be classroom parties the week of Feb. 8th. Feb. 14th is the date for the Chinese New Year and this year we welcome in the Year of the Tiger.
Reminders: Students need to bring in at least an hour's worth of work for Study Hall/Homework Club.

Flowers 

Seed Growing Workshop

Come join Phil from the Flower Fields in Carlsbad as he comes to our classroom to teach us about composting, recycling, environment, and planting. Students will be shown how to plant a sunflower seed. All students will take it home to watch the sunflower grow!

Who: Grades K-5
When: Wed., Feb. 3rd, 8:30-10:00

Financial Aid Night
PVCS will be hosting a Financial Aid night with representatives from Mira Costa College to assist in completing the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to answer any financial aid questions.

California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)
Passing both sections of this test (English/Language Arts and Math) is a requirement for graduation and a high school diploma.
Who: All 10th grade students
NOTE: All 12th grade students are eligible to take this test if they have not passed one or both sections. Some 11th grade students may also be eligible. Check with your Supervisory Teacher for more information.  
When: Tues., Feb. 2nd, 8:15am-1:00pm- Language Arts

A panel of current Mira Costa students will answer questions from PVCS students concerning their quest to further their education. This will be followed by a tour of the campus. Parents are welcome and are encouraged to attend.
Feel free to stay and have lunch in the cafeteria and get the feeling of being on a college campus.

Wild Animal Park Field Trip
Who: Grades K-12
When: Fri., Feb 26th @ 9:15 am
Where: Wild Animal Park in Escondido
Cost: Students: FREE Adults: $10.00, prepay at the front office by Wed., Feb. 24th   
Note: Please park your car and mention the school fieldtrip to avoid the $9.00 parking fee. Look for the Pacific View sign at the entrance to the Park (not the entrance to the parking lot!) Bring a lunch and water or money to buy food.

2010 Oceanside Clean Up Events
Come and help remove trash and debris from our beautiful rivers, creeks, and beaches.
All clean up volunteers receive clean up supplies, refreshments, community service hours, and one free give away item.
