| WHAT IS THE FairTax?
The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and
payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national
retail sales tax, a monthly prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending
up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue replacement, and, through
companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.
This nonpartisan legislation
(HR 25/S 296) abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate,
capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment
taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax -- administered
primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.
The IRS is disbanded and defunded.
The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not
on what we earn.
The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent
solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

Thank you for your continuing interest in the FairTax. This is the first issue of the Florida FairTax Educational Association (FFTEA) newsletter. It is our purpose to keep you informed about the progress of the FairTax, Florida FairTax events, and the sponsorship status of Florida's own Senators and Representatives.

How Can YOU Help?
Getting elected officials to support/sponsor the FairTax legislation in Congress is the focus of the national organization. However, we know that the only way we are going to see the FairTax become law is when it is demanded by a public educated on the benefits of the FairTax and enacted by a likewise educated Congress.
With this objective in mind, we have just launched a 3 part series of webinars that will provide you with:
(1) a thorough understanding of the
FairTax,
(2) how to present the FairTax to friends and neighbors and a variety
of audiences, and
(3) leadership training in the organization.

Why Should you WANT the FairTax?
There are several reasons why the FairTax -- a proposal to replace the current income tax system with a single, uniform rate federal retail sales tax that is revenue-neutral -- would benefit you -- whether your family is a a young working family, low or fixed income family, senior or small business owner family. The FairTax is the only plan that completely "untaxes" the poor and also lowers tax rates on young, low-income families living above the poverty level. The FairTax achieves this result by:  (1) Eliminating all federal payroll withholding taxes, allowing all wage earners to take home their entire paychecks - it's the full paycheck plan. Social Security and Medicare taxes, the most regressive taxes of all, are no longer withheld from paychecks. (2) The FairTax also ends the income tax system, so families have no income tax withheld. Neither do they have to keep records or hire tax preparers to help them file returns. (3) A monthly prebate (tax rebate) is paid to all families so that no family has to pay taxes on spending up to the poverty level. Learn more. . . |
