HINTS TO DIAGNOSE LOWER BACK PAIN
|
There are many types of lower back pain in patients that plague them continually. The following are some hints in determining what type of lower back pain could be affecting you or someone close to you.Lower back pain that is most pronounced in the morning and later in the day is often caused by Facet Joint Osteoarthritis or (Degenerative Arthritis). This is a condition that involves breakdown of the cartilage between the facet joints in the back. The pain and stiffness is a result of the lack of cartilage between the joints. Sciatica or any other pain that occurs when walking, and increases with more walking can be caused by conditions such as Lumbar Spinal Stenosis or Degenerative Spondylolisthesis, which act as a major deterrent to exercise. Both conditions place pressure on the nerves at the point where they exit the spine. Standing upright, such as in normal walking, increases pressure on the nerve and results in leg pain. While less common than the above listed conditions, a number of other conditions can cause low back pain as well, including but not limited to:
Muscle Strain or injury, Disc or Spine Injury, Spinal Deformities such as: Scoliosis or Kyphosis. All of these injuries and maladies are treatable here at Cypress Creek Therapy Associates. To schedule an appointment for an evaluation call:

"Wii" WILL ROCK YOU!
|
Nintendo's original intention when they made Wii was to make an entertaining and interactive gaming system which used body motion as to control and influence the system. What they didn't realize was that when using the game console's unique, motion-sensitive controller, Wii games require body movements similar to traditional Physical Therapy exercises. The most popular Wii games in rehab involve sports - baseball, bowling, boxing, golf and tennis. Using the same arm swings required by those sports, players wave a wireless controller that directs the actions of animated athletes on the screen.
Jokingly, after an injury, some people can refer to PT as "Physical Torture" because rehabilitation can be painful at times, but patients on the Wii become so mentally tuned-in to the game they are almost oblivious to the exercise and rehabilitation they are giving to their injuries.
Cypress Creek Therapy Associates purchased a Wii Fit rehab machine for its patients last year and the results could not be better!
