In animal studies, bisphenol A, or BPA, has been linked to changes in the hormonal system. Polycarbonate plastic containing bisphenol A is currently found in some baby bottles, toddler sipping cups, water cooler bottles, and food containers. One major manufacturer of drinking water bottles has announced that it will immediately stop using polycarbonate. A confidential report suggests that Canada is planning to declare bisphenol A a toxic substance under the country's environmental protection act.
