Dear Friends,

Millard Fuller (1935-2009), the beloved founder of Habitat for Humanity, once said, "For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people's love and concern for each other." The heart of what we do here at Habitat centers around people. If our work is divorced from the lives of the people we serve, we are simply constructing empty frames for an empty cause. Behind every door is a family with a history. Behind every face is a name worth knowing and a story worth telling. Thank you for your support in 2009. You helped ten families write a new chapter in their life stories.

Happy Holidays,

Jim
Year-End Gifts to Habitat

Christmas gift blue and greenPlease consider including Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County in your charitable giving plans this holiday season.

You can send your tax-deductible gift to Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County, 402 E. South St, South Bend, IN, 46601, or click on the PayPal link here to give online.

There are still NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) credits available that allow you to deduct 50% of your donation directly from your Indiana state income tax in addition to the normal federal deduction. These credits are a tremendous tax incentive but are going quickly. Please call us at 574-288-6967 to check availability. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

The NonProfit Times' "Top 100"

The leading business publication for nonprofit management published their annual "Top 100" report in November and Habitat for Humanity International came in at #10.  The report states that Habitat spent more than one billion dollars in the fiscal year ending 2008 to build simple, decent, affordable homes for needy people around the world.  The top three nonprofits listed in the report were YMCA, United Way and Catholic Charities.
