Dear Friends of Habitat,

We just wrapped up another exciting month with the induction of five new partner families!  In June, it was also my privilege to speak to the congregations at Westminster Presbyterian (South Bend) and Eastside United Methodist (Mishawaka) to thank them for their support. On June 15, my new assistant, Gwen Johnson, joined the staff, and on June 16, I worked side-by-side with 13 pastors from our community who came out to the Matthew 25 Pastors Work Day. The Thrivent Lutheran, Notre Dame Development and Matthew 25 Builds are in full swing, and Women Build and World Build will begin in August and September respectively.  Two days ago, I was able to give the go-ahead to our accountant to pay off the remaining indebtedness on the Sample ReStore, and on the very last day of June, I learned that the city of Mishawaka will be giving us two build sites in 2010 and two in 2011. In conclusion, I once heard it said that, "Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."  How true.  Thank you again to all of you who have partnered with Habitat to make all of this happen. We are making a difference together.

For His Glory,

Jim

This month, the affiliate will say goodbye to four AmeriCorps volunteers: Shannon Burke, Andrew Hayes, Emily Jensen and Joel Steiner.
