Cosmic Weather Report
December 6, Santa Cruz CA
A few weeks ago the remote planet Pluto entered the sign of Capricorn, where it will stay until 2024. Each time Pluto enters a new sign a whole generation of babies begins. A century ago Pluto was in Gemini from 1900 to 1915, and the Rational Generation was born, individuals who thought that mankind's reason would create a new age of technological progress. From 1915 through 1939 Pluto moved through Cancer, sign of the family, producing a generation of Americans who valued the sanctity of the family above everything else. From 1939 to 1956 Pluto moved through Leo, producing the "Me" generation, those of us baby-boomers who've spent most of our lives searching for ourselves, for authentic individuation. From 1956 to 1972 Pluto moved through Virgo, sign of work, creating a generation valuing their path of service and work in the world. Pluto moved through Libra from 1972 to 1983, bringing marriage and partnership back into vogue. From 1983 to 1996 Pluto moved through Scorpio, producing a powerful generation who is here to bulldoze the stuck karma of our society. From 1996 to a few weeks ago Pluto moved through Sagittarius, ushering in a generation of dreamers, whose job is to dream up a new world. Now that Obama's been elected we're glimpsing the first glimmerings of that world. Vision is essential to Sagittarius. Capricorn, where Pluto will be for the next sixteen years, is the hard-working, skeptical, strong-willed World Builder. The babies just now being born are bringing in a generation of leaders, a wave of tenacious, tough-rooted, hard-assed realists capable of working earth magic, of building a foundation from the past, which can sustain the future. These babies will take a long time to mature-Capricorn's famous for its wine-like slow maturation process. But the transformation of our world out from its stuck places of the past into the living green earth of the future is going to be the legacy of the next fifty years, as the Pluto in Scorpio powerhouse generation comes of age-they're currently between twelve and twenty-five years old. After that, Pluto in Sag kids come to bat, the ones between two months old now (my son Hart is of the youngest of them, and my five-and-a-half year old son Sky is another. The visions we give these kids now will enable them to re-envision their own worlds two or three decades from now. And these new Pluto-in-Capricorn children will replicate the great Romantic Generation of Beethoven's time, time of Coleridge and Wordsworth-those world builders who could climb highest and see farthest. Our work, all of us, now that Pluto entered the Sign of the Sea-Goat, is to challenge ourselves beyond former limits to believe that this world, this living, breathing planet of ours, can actually be changed for the better. The more we believe this, the more we'll unite with the underlying planetary currents of our time and the times to come. What strength is in you to recast the future more along the lines of heart and less in the name of profit, this is your time to lead with that. What lofty dream rises in your soul, to leave this world a better place than you found it, give it breath and wings and substance, and the gods may prove you right.
Who are you really? What are you here to do? How much longer are you going to wait? | |
Lunar Currents:
Enjoy this flushing period
The New Moon in the last days of November in 6 Sagittarius is asking us to get out of our own way, to recognize that we play the greatest role of all in keeping ourselves trapped, or free. The maddening thing about this theme between freedom and bondage is that full freedom cannot occur until everything in the way of it comes up. This is a flushing period, a zodiacal cleansing to remove the caked-over, grubby, tuned-out circuits from our aliveness, and free the radical zeal bursting out of our souls that says Hallelujah - the new has come! On December 12th, the full Moon in Gemini 22 will take our self-evasion and act it out to the max. Whatever places we're still in our own way by then will get dramatized in pure Gemini fashion, on the screen of our mental awareness. Whatever dualities we're harboring, of something stopping us, something pitted against us, something broken off from us-will get flushed up and out by the powerful full Moon's rays. Take it as one more illusion of separation in the Great Return. Use the sheer pressure of duality as an illuminating light to reveal your own folly, and get to the unitive truth on the other side.
