One Client's Winning Email Campaign
Last week, one of my clients, the executive director of House of Peace & Education, Inc. (HOPE), a non-profit agency, contacted me with an urgent request.
HOPE was involved in the North Central Massachusetts United Way Community Builders Star Project competition. Several local agencies were competing for four grants. Each organization was to present a specific project for funding. Individuals could go to the Community Builders web site to vote for their favorite project. The deadline for voting in this year's competition was April 9.
Within an hour or so, I put together an email marketing newsletter, with a link to the voting site and mailed it to HOPE's email list. Close to 60 people, accounting for over 80% of those who opened the email, clicked on the link and voted for HOPE, which resulted in HOPE winning the Grand Prize of $1,000 to use toward their project. Why Was This Campaign So Successful?
- The message was concise and to the point.
- The action required by the reader (to click to the Community Builder website) was simple.
- Once the voting site was reached, it was easy to vote.
- The whole process, from reading the email to completing the voting, took 5 minutes or less out of the voter's day.
