Kuilema pottery Mary Kuilema Grand Rapids, MI | I am beginning work with 62, 6th graders on a 12' x 8' mural for their new classroom building, based on their school year as young eco-scientist/farmers. Should be a wonderful opportunity to put their concepts of the natural world into clay. This donor recognition mural, at the Fair Housing Center' in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is based on group's logo, which is a simple door and its shadow. The logo turns into a trompe-l'oeil room scene in a corner of the lobby; the two wall spaces are each 4' wide x 8' high. Each tile has a donor name, including doorjambs, window sash, floor, steps.' The 'windows' are actually mirrors. I also do custom residential work. This photo of tile counter tops, handmade sink and wainscot border makes a tiny bathroom beautiful.
This fireplace design at a residence in Illinois, is a tile translation of the homeowner's prized stain glass windows.' For more information please contact e-mail: mary@stonewaretile.com 5519 Ranger Hills Drive SE

Leah Zahavi Highland Park, New Jersey
Leah Shafir Zahavi is the founder and creative director of Inner Piece LLC. Leah's designs, whether in clay or textiles, reflect cutting-edge creativity and a sophisticated take on material culture. Her affinity for both tiles and textiles was inspired by her mother, world-renowned mosaic artist, Ilana Shafir, and her grandmother, an immigrant seamstress who loved needlework and knitting.
Leah has worked as an artist all her life. She studied art and art history at the teachers' college of the University of Haifa, and earned her master's degree at Rutgers University. A native of Israel, she is drawn to the Mediterranean color palette, and her original designs are innovative fusions of diverse artistic traditions.

Graffito sheets are embedded with a ceramic underglaze that transfers to a bisque piece when drawn upon by using a pencil, ball-point pen or sgraffito tool. This means that everything from photographic image to an original drawing can be transferred to a piece. Bisque fire your piece to set the underglaze so that it burns off the wax that is acting as a transfer agent to the ceramic surface. All colors fire at Cone 06-8 except Rose, which fires at Cone 04*. All six colors are in the Graffito Kit. There are six sheets in each pack they are 9" x 9" squares.
