Greetings!
The 2012 Handmade Tile Association Directory cover has been chosen. For the second year in a row it was very close with only one vote making the difference. The winner is a close up of California China Products Company (CCPCo) in National City, dating to 1914. The tiles are in the lobby of what was the California Building in Balboa Park (San Diego) designed by architect Bertrum Goodhue, the site of the Panama California Exposition in 1915. The building is now the Museum of Man. Courtesy of Joe Taylor and Sheila Menzies of the Tile Heritage Foundation.
A little history on the cover. The HTA cover is always a historic tile selection. This allows the HTA to honor our tile past and it ensures that there is not a competition between contemporary tile artisans which could get contentious. The cover also proves that artisan tiles are timeless and engaging. People who pick up the directory are always drawn to the rich colors, patterns and designs showcased. Thanks to the Tile Heritage Foundation for supplying us with great choices and we all look forward to holding the 2012 directory in our hands and see the wonderful tiles is showcases page after page.

Volunteering
| Every year advertisers and members have an opportunity to help the organization by volunteering. We ask everyone to give 5 hours a year. Those who do we offer a $100 off your advertising costs in the directory. We have a variety of jobs we always need help with. Office work being the most needed. The HTA needs someone at least once a month to do filing and mailings and membership. Second the HTA participates and hosts events like the MN Tile Festival, Art A Whirl, Trade show, and gallery shows. We need volunteers to run a booth at these events, host a meeting organize the other volunteers. Your volunteering helps the HTA keep their costs down and most beneficial is we have noticed it is a great way for members to get to meet and know each other better which tends to lead to collaboration. If you would like to help please contact Josh to tell him what you would like to help with. 612-781-6409
